The Gods of Powerpoint

Need to make a duplicate of the current slide? CTRL + SHIFT + D.

Rachael Hattam of merrie old England have put together some cool stuff - check out the Lens reveal and the Morph transition.

If you're in the C-suite, you might want to check out the resources from Arte and Ramgopal Ranganathan at Presentation Process (yes, a typically boring Indian name for a business. Way to go. If they had named it Proppit, they'd have IPO'd five years ago).

So proud. This one I figured out on my own. What if you wanted to draw attention to a part of the slide. You highlight it, but you don't feel that's enough. Remember Capt. Peacoke of Are You Being Served : "A moving display gets twice the attention of a static one."

For example :

You dig? Easy :

  1. Drop a circle using Insert > Shape and pretty it up as you need using Gradient and Soft Edges (Format Shape assistant)
  2. Then, you're ready to animate. Go to the Animations menu and, from Entrance, choose Appear.
  3. Change the Start to On Click if that's what you want.
  4. Then, Add Animation and, for the new one, choose Basic Zoom (might have to go to More Exit Effects) and adjust timing and Start to "After Previous"
  5. That's it, you're in business! Congratulations

Okay, in this case a highlight truly might do it. What if it's something you don't want to alter - like a photo. Some process. Dazzling result :)

How do you show people where Von Neumann is in the picture?

How to make one color on your picture transparent - can be a life-saver :)

Scrolling text, ticker tape, effect : How

BTW, in Powerpoint, if you want to make a duplicate of what you've selected, that's CTRL + D - no need to do CTRL+C and then CTRL+V
