Bluefishing : Making things Happen

Steve, as a bar bouncer in Hong Kong redirects a group to another bar ("Not tonight fellas. It's dead quiet in h. If I let you in, you're going to think you got ripped off. If you go d the road to x.. tell Bill Sims sent you")

Of course, 30 seconds after they left, the owner scurried over to me and asked why I just sent paying customers away.

"Because they will never come back," I explained. "Not if they have a bad time in here tonight."

To my surprise, instead of firing me, "Well, what would you do to kick it up a notch and make it a good time?"

So I started planning a night  : A big n. For starters, I got a better DJ and made sure the prettier bartenders were on duty. Not much, but better than the other cookie c bars.

THE REAL TRICK WAS HOW I GOT THE WORD OUT. Because I had sent them away on previous nights, people would often walk past me and ask, "Hey Sims, tonight?"

So, this time I said, "Tomorrow's the night. It's happening here. Tell your boys."

AND THEN I GAVE THEM A PASSWORD.

Would Cialdini put this in the scarcity category?
